Jay Nixon and Missouri House Speaker Ron Richard are talking about forthcoming legislation for autism insurance, which would require coverage of health care and therapeutic interventions for children with autism, just as already is afforded to children with every other major neurological disorder.

JEFFERSON CITY — Emotional testimony from witnesses and legislators marked the first meeting of a state House of Representatives committee that seeks to examine autism insurance policy. The Interim Committee on Autism Spectrum Disorders convened Tuesday to gather information about the disorder.

It's not exactly a political or town hall rally, but there will be plenty of fervor this Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at a special "Show-Me Coverage Autism Insurance Rally" at T.R. Hughes Ballpark in O'Fallon, Mo.
A special family that will be there in force is Glendale's Eric and Jaime Schmitt and their youngsters. For state Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale, this rally involves a personal cause, a family cause and a political cause.
