Missouri Autism Commission Members

 

The Governor appointed Dr. David Crowe , of Cape Girardeau, Connie L. Hebert , of Cape Girardeau, Vicki L. McCarrell , of Pilot Grove, and Anne M. Roux , of Ballwin, as members of the Missouri Commission on Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Commission was formed to make recommendations for developing a comprehensive statewide plan for an integrated system of training, treatment, and services for individuals of all ages with autism spectrum disorder.

 

Crowe is the founder of Crowe and McGuire Orthodontics. He and his son, who was diagnosed with autism, have produced two DVDs to educate parents and educators on autism. He also is the founder of the Tailor Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with high-functioning autism or Asperger's Syndrome who exhibit areas of giftedness. The Governor appointed Crowe for a term ending Sept. 3, 2010.

 

Hebert is the interim director of the Southeast Missouri State University Autism Center for Diagnosis and Treatment and also works as an independent educational consultant to school districts to provide behavioral consultation. The Governor appointed Herbert for a term ending Sept. 3, 2010.

 

McCarrell has served as executive director of Unlimited Opportunities Inc., a nonprofit agency in Boonville that serves children and adults with disabilities, since 1999. She served on the Missouri Planning Council for Development Disabilities from 2002 to 2008. The Governor appointed McCarrell for a term ending Sept. 3, 2010.

 

Roux currently is executive director of the non-profit Missouri Families for Effective Autism Treatment, as well as a regional trainer for the Missouri Developmental Disability Resource Center. She served as support to the Blue Ribbon Panel on Autism in 2007. The Governor appointed Roux for a term ending Feb. 26, 2013.
